TOTAL E&P NORGE was the main sponsor when The Tall Ships Races visited Stavanger in the summer of 2011, and also supported the regatta the two previous times Stavanger played host in 1997 and 2004.
The Tall Ships Races were first held in 1956 to mark the final end of the sailing ship era, while also fostering good friendship and respect among young people from different countries.
From just 20 ships in 1956, the number now varies from 70-100 ships every year, with 3,000-4,000 young people from over 30 different countries.
