Total E&P Norge is involved in exploration and production of oil and gas on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. In 2015, the average production was 239.000 barrels of oil equivalents per day. Over 40 percent of our yearly production comes from gas production.

Our position in Norway

We are committed to the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Our history in Norway started in 1965. The merger of Total, Fina and Elf in 1999 made Total E&P Norge one of the biggest and strongest players in Norway. Today, Total E&P Norge participates in 98 licenses throughout the entire Norwegian Continental Shelf. In 24 of these, fields are producing. We are operator of 33 licenses.

With the development of the Martin Linge field in the North Sea, Total E&P Norge is returning a major operator again in Norway. Martin Linge is developed with a new living quarters and production platform and a permanently anchored oil storage ship. Gas will be exported to St Fergus in Scotland.

Our organisation

We have close to 500 employees. The figure includes 80 expatriated staff and 22 that are assigned abroad or at partners in Norway. Total E&P Norge is a growing international organization. Almost 30 different nationalities are represented in our organization.

Research and development

Total E&P Norge hosts the largest research and development centre outside of France within the exploration and production branch in the Total group. The objective of the centre is challenges on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in three technical domains – subsurface including drilling and well technology, production and environment.

In addition to participation in research, we are involved in the training of young professionals from universities in Norway and France. We also finance and provide professional contributions to PHD student projects.
