The Martin Linge jacket

Today it is one year ago since the Martin Linge jacket was launched and upended in the North Sea. The operation was the first major installation milestone in the field development.

See pictures and read about the operations in the slideshow. You can also view the video of the spectacular moment when the 16,000 tonnes steel jacket is launched into the sea.

At 02.40 on 4 June, the mooring lines for the barge were cut at the Kværner Verdal yard in Norway. The jacket started the long journey out to the Martin Linge field (photo: Camilla Emilie Hatleskog/Total E&P Norge).

“After two long shifts of preparation, seeing and feeling the jacket sliding off the barge in no more than 50 seconds was both very exciting and a bit stressful," says Installation manager Sébastien Tessier (photo: Woldcam/Total E&P Norge).
