Three companies - three histories

Our history in Norway goes back to the mid 1960s. However, from the beginning there were three prominent energy companies - Total, Fina and Elf - which have merged over the years.

In May 2003 TOTAL E&P NORGE AS became the company's new official name. Prior to this, the name TotalFinaElf reflected a merged company. TOTAL Norge A.S and Fina Exploration Norge SA (the Norwegian branch) merged in 2000, while the merger between TotalFinaElf Exploration Norge AS (former Elf Petroleum Norge) and TOTAL Norge A.S was completed in December 2001.
