The Skirne field
Skirne and Byggve are two gas/ condensate fields situated to the east of the Heimdal platform. They are developed with two sub-sea wells (X-mas trees) and connected to the Heimdal platform with a 12" pipeline via two 6" flexible pipelines.

Facts about SKIRNE

  • Location: 140 km NW of Stavanger
  • Distance from Heimdal:  Byggve 16 km, Skirne 24 km east of the Heimdal field
  • Water Depth: 120 meter
  • Block: Production Licence 102 (Block 25/5)
  • Discovered: Skirne in 1990 and Byggve in 1991
  • Declared commercial: See above, retained due to uncertain profitability 
    PDO (Plan for Development and Operation) approved 5.7.2002
  • Drilling of wells: Scarabeo 6, Spring/ Summer 2004
  • Production start-up: 3 March 2004
  • Plateau production: 4.2 M Sm3/d gas – 1250 Sm3/d condensate
  • Export pipeline: The gas goes to Great Britain via Vesterled or to the Continent via Statpipe. Condensate to Brae  
  • Estimated development cost: 1.9 billion NOK
  • Expected end of production: 5 ½ years
