The Middle Jurassic David prospect, is surrounded by oil and gas discoveries made in the 80s and 90s. If a profitable discovery is made, David can technically be tied in to the existing pipeline that runs from Skirne – Byggve to the Heimdal platform.
Oil spill preparedness
TOTAL E&P NORGE AS is a member of NOFO (Norwegian Clean Seas Association for Operating Companies) which maintains the operating companies’ oil spill preparedness tied to exploration for and production of oil and gas. NOFO will assist TOTAL in the event of a spill and will provide oil spill response resources that can be found at bases all along the coast (oil spill vessels, an oil spill clean-up coordinator and oil spill response equipment). For rapid response TOTAL has access to ExxonMobil’s standby vessel in the Jotun-Balder area, and with Statoil’s standby vessel in the Troll / Oseberg area through the NOFO vessel agreement. Both vessels have oil spill response equipment and will be on David within nine hours. TOTAL has prepared own environmental risk and oil spill contingency analyses and plans for oil spill response for the drilling operation on David.
